Biography
Dr. Gonzalez is an Associate Professor of Nursing with over 13 years of academic experience and more than 30 years as a registered nurse. She has taught undergraduate nursing courses with expertise in medical surgical nursing, adult health, professionalism, and palliative/hospice care. Her teaching emphasizes active learning, critical thinking, and evidence-based practice to prepare students for professional success. Her research interests center on nursing education, with a focus on strategies that enhance student learning, confidence, and critical thinking. She has explored innovative approaches such as exam review activities, skills fairs, and bootcamps to support nursing students’ academic and clinical success. Additional areas of interest include nurse residency programs, disability inclusion in nursing education, and the impact of social influences—such as social media—on health behaviors.
