Statement of teaching and research interests:

Dr. Karazsia’s research addresses why and how vulnerable populations undergo socio-political marginalization and violence. He uses a range of archival and legal primary sources, secondary sources, and social scientific literature to show how specific state-society conditions enable perpetrators to ostracize, dehumanize, and murder so-called “asocial” groups en masse and how students, scholars, and policymakers can identify implement preventive measures. His main regional interest is in Sub-Saharan Africa, mainly Central and East Africa and primarily teaches courses on Comparative Politics, International Relations, and American Politics and offers a few courses in the Public Administration program.
